THE MA Hart Robbins Cup competition has a tradition of producing surprise results and there were certainly a couple of big upsets in the second-round ties.

Pride of place goes to Division Six high flyers Poole Rovers who despatched Second Division outfit Bournemouth Athletic 3-1 thanks to goals from Chris Neesam, Tyler Gregory and Lewis Worrell.

Alan March’s consolation goal for Athletic is the only goal conceded by Rovers so far this season.

Another Division Two side making an unexpected exit from the competition were last season’s beaten finalists JP Morgan, who went down 2-0 to Woodville Wanderers from Division Five.

Aaron Towers struck for Wanderers with their other goal coming courtesy of a blistering 30-yard strike from Bill Maidment.

Tower Park led 3-1 thanks to Charlie King and a couple of goals from Joe Heron but they became the third Division Two side to bow out.

Scott Burbidge’s second half hat-trick and further goals from George Wescott and Ellis Greenslade gave Poole Wanderers from Division Three the upper hand 5-3.

Daniel Cook rattled in four and Ben Collie notched a hat-trick when AFC East Christchurch gave Branksome Liberal a 10-2 drubbing.

Rich Sainsbury (2) and an own goal completed AFC’s tally with Branksome replying through Lewis Tapley and Jon Harris.

James Jose plundered four in NMO’s 9-1 hammering of Quayside with Matt Blake (2), Calam Boyt, Jake Fields and Liam Lavis also on target while Jordan Lee Greening scored the Quayside consolation goal.

Mustapha Agheba grabbed a hat-trick in AFC Burton’s 7-1 triumph over Morden.

Casey Bonsfield, Ananda Nair, Joe Sparks and Ollie Nicholls added one each for Burton while Morden replied through Jake Price.

George Gudge struck twice in Vienna Suttoners’ 5-2 success against Portchester with Brad Connell, Tylor Burgis and Toby Saunders adding one each. Matt Francis and Kingsley White were the Portchester scorers.

Ross Dominey and Dan Palmer scored two apiece when Division Five leaders Kraken Sports surprised AFC Wimborne 4-1. Jacob Beetham scored the Third Division side’s consolation goal.

Tyler Dale netted for New Milton Borough but Parkstone ousted them 5-1 thanks to Matt Knight and two goals apiece from Jamie O’Shea and Andy Pugh.

Meanwhile Shoulder of Mutton swept AFC Fiveways aside 5-0 thanks to Louis Baker’s hat-trick and further goals from Joe Guerra and Jamie Kay.

  • In Group One of the Endeavour Cup, Oliver Bird, Tom McKew and Ashley Sobisch gave Hamworthy Recreation under-18s a 3-0 success against Redhill Rangers under-18s.
