POOLE’S answer to boxing superstar Canelo Alvarez is looking to keep up his unbeaten professional record.

Steve Bendall brings professional boxing back to Bournemouth’s O2 Academy on Saturday - and for Lee Cutler, there’s everything to fight for.

The 23-year-old has made a smooth transition from amateur to professional boxing – winning three of his five fights inside the distance.

And to prepare for a make-or-break contest against Cameroon’s Serge Ambomo this weekend, Cutler has been watching his favourite fighter on YouTube.

“Canelo is my favourite fighter to watch,” said Cutler. “He loves to fight, but he’s slick with it.

“The general public maybe found Floyd Mayweather a bit boring, but nobody calls Canelo boring. Everyone can appreciate the way he slips shots and counters.

“I watch him on YouTube because I want to learn from him. That’s the style I want to have. I like to see myself as a younger version of him and I wouldn’t mind having his bank balance either!”

Former Olympian Ambomo has seven professional victories to his name, three of which coming by way of knockout. He has tasted defeat 14 times with two draws.

“It’s not easy finding people to fight me,” said Cutler.

“Because I’ve had a few stoppages, they want a lot of money to fight me and I don’t want to jump up too far too soon.

“It’s all about getting the right opponents at the right time. I do feel I’m ready for a step up.”
