CHRISTCHURCH sealed victory over Poole in their return to competitive rugby with a 51-40 success in the first round of the Dorset & Wilts First XV Plate.
After the scores were deadlocked 29-29 following 80 minutes, tries from Matt Moore, Tom Kittle and Tayler Mead ensured the re-formed club earned success.
The club re-launched in April after an absence of more than 20 years and have based themselves at East Christchurch Sports & Social Club – home of the previous Christchurch RFC.
A spokesperson for the club said: “Since our re-launch we have managed to attract nearly 40 players from the surrounding area, with more than 22 returning to rugby after at least two years out, or starting the game for the first time.
“We are welcoming players of all abilities to the club. Training is Thursdays at 7pm.”
Christchurch will host East Dorset in the last eight of the plate competition on October 12.
