DANNY Holmes insisted all his players would be fired up for their Dorset derby showdown with arch-rivals Poole Town in the preliminary round of the Southern League Challenge Cup.

Knocked out of the FA Cup after a 2-1 defeat at Truro on Saturday, Holmes is currently in charge at Wimborne following brother Matty’s decision to step down from the role last week.

And he admits he may look to freshen up his starting XI ahead of the crunch showdown with Dolphins.

Giving his thoughts on the clash tomorrow at Black Gold Stadium (7.45pm) Danny Holmes said: "It is a local derby and we are looking forward to it.

"Everyone will be up for it. The games have been coming thick and fast and they have been tough games so far but that is what it is about, whether it is the league, the FA Cup or the League Cup.

"I can't lie, there will be some changes because there are some faces I want to look at, including some of the boys who are out on loan.

"We have not got a massive squad and I need to look at players, so it will give me an opportunity.

"It does not mean we are going there weakened and not trying to win the game, quite the opposite because last season rotating the squad in the competition worked well for us.

"It gives some of the lads a challenge to come in and show what they are about.”
