CO-PROMOTER Danny Ford sung the praises of reserve rocket Nico Covatti and insisted: “He can go out there and mix it with the best of them.”

The Argentinian charger racked up 9+2 during Monday’s 46-44 victory over Swindon at Wimborne Road.

He also last week top-scored with 12+1 while guesting for Ipswich against the Robins at Foxhall.

Ford told the Daily Echo: “I can’t speak highly enough of Nico.

“I am a massive fan of his and I always sing his praises. He has his doubters but we know the form he can produce – he can go out there and mix it with the best of them.

“It’s no surprise to me that he was able to score some great points.

“There was also a fantastic return from Ricky Wells (6+4) as well. It’s great having those reserves we can rely on as well when we need to get the points down there.”

Pirates are on Thursday set to take on Swindon at the Abbey (7.30pm).
