MATTY Holmes says Hendon's artificial pitch is "a surface we like playing on" as Wimborne prepare to make the trip to London tomorrow (3pm kick-off).

The Magpies were edged out 3-2 on the 3G at Silver Jubilee Park last season and are still seeking a first Southern League South win of the campaign, picking up just one point from their two matches so far.

And boss Holmes is keen for his side to get their first win quickly.

He told the Daily Echo: "You need to get your points in early on as much as you can, which we didn't last season.

"But it's a work in progress for us. No panic.

"Now it's really starting to hot up, the games come thick and fast and we know we've got to start getting points on the board early on.

"You don't want to get dragged down into the bottom areas really early, which we did last year."

On facing Hendon, Holmes added: "It's on the Astro so it's going to be a slightly different game.

"I thought we played really well up there last season.

"It's a surface that we like playing on, but it will be an interesting game, tight affair I would've thought, but hopefully a good footballing game."
