MATTY Holmes described as "a hugely frustrating night" 10-man Wimborne's defeat at Blackfield & Langley.

After a goalless first half, the Magpies were dealt a setback when Connor Doe was given his marching orders for a second bookable offence.

And the hosts eventually made their extra man tell in the 85th minute when Mohamed Saadi fired into the top corner to earn a 1-0 win.

Wimborne boss Holmes was left frustrated with Doe's dismissal, telling the Daily Echo: "We were in control of the game I felt up until the sending off.

"I just felt that the decision, the first yellow that Connor picked up, was a really poor decision. He's just gone up for a challenge and the lad's gone down holding his head and screaming to get him booked.

"So I was really disappointed with that and then Connor's just got to learn he's on a yellow now, which is unfortunate, he shouldn't have had one, but he's gone in for a tackle and it was most probably yellow, which has got him sent off. He's got to learn that if you're on a yellow card already, you've got to be a bit more disciplined.

"It was a hugely frustrating night because once we went down to the 10, we had to change a little bit of tactics and do some slightly different things.

"We looked a little bit dangerous on the counter, but it was just a worldie goal which has settled the tie really, which was a real shame."

Holmes also felt his side were denied a "definite penalty" when Tony Lee was booked after falling in the opposition box.

Magpies remain on just one point and are still seeking their first goal of the season after the weekend 0-0 draw against Hartley Wintney.

But Holmes is keen to focus on the positives.

He said: "We've still got a lot of work to do in terms of our final third play.

"We're looking a lot more defensively structured this year, which I'm really pleased about.

"All-round I'm upbeat and positive about the way the team is performing."
