CHERRIES are looking to arrange a loan deal for Sam Surridge this week, the Daily Echo understands.

And a report from Sky Sports claims the striker is set for a medical with Championship side Swansea City within the next 24 hours.

The 21-year-old featured in all six of the first-team's friendlies during pre-season, netting in a 3-1 win over Brentford at Griffin Park last month.

But it is understood that Eddie Howe is keen for the youngster to move out on loan before Thursday's transfer deadline to gain more experience in senior football.

Surridge, an academy graduate, made his Cherries debut in February, coming off the bench in a 5-1 Premier League defeat at Arsenal.

He was introduced for his second appearance late on on the final day of the campaign at Crystal Palace.

The academy graduate enjoyed a fruitful loan spell away at League One Oldham Athletic during the first half of 2018-19, scoring 12 goals in 20 matches.

Sunderland came close to snapping up Surridge for the remainder of the campaign, but Cherries decided to keep him in their squad.

He has also spent time away at Yeovil.
