A BLISTERING knock from Christchurch’s Liam Bowater proved not enough as his side fell to a seven-wicket home defeat against Dorset Premier League leaders Dorchester.
Bowater came to the crease with his side 91 for five before smashing 74 from just 39 deliveries at Hurn Bridge – an innings which included 13 fours and three sixes.
The all-rounder was eventually caught by Jack Walklett off the bowling of Josh Richardson (3-35) as the hosts went on to be bowled out for 240.
But title-hopefuls Dorchester held their nerve in the chase to seal a 12th win of the campaign.
The county town side were spearheaded by all-rounder Jack Owens, who struck 102 from 111 deliveries.
Dorchester reached their victory target with three-and-a-half overs to spare. Christchurch are sixth in the table with 169 points from 14 games.
