DANNY Ford insisted Pirates would replace stricken star Richie Worrall if the move was right – but said: “We are not going to rush into it.”

Worrall has been sidelined with a broken ankle since the end of June after a spill with reserve Nico Covatti against Belle Vue.

The Wimborne Road outfit have won four out of five SGB Premiership outings using guests and rider replacement in the absence of the Merseysider (pictured).

Asked whether the search was on to replace Worrall, who is set for a lengthy spell out, Ford told the Daily Echo: “At the moment we have been running either rider replacement or a guest for Richie and it seems to be working really well for us. But, that being said, if some riders make themselves available to come over to England – or a rider gets released from another team, the average fits and we think it’s a good move – we will definitely move on it.

“We are not going to rush into it, make any silly decisions or bring someone in for the sake of having a full team when things seem to be working for us.”

Pirates host Peterborough on Thursday (7.30pm).
