DORSET Disability could not end their season on a high, losing by 90 runs to unbeaten Somerset Disabled.

Somerset won the toss at Martinstown CC in the ECB South West Super 9s clash and opted to bat first.

Opening batsmen Nick Dean (50no) and James Mayled (53no) set the platform for a big win with an impressive opening stand of 147 with both forced to retire after making half centuries.

Dorset eventually made inroads with the ball as Tom Best posted figures of three for 38 while Josh Courtenay and Andrew White each took a wicket apiece. Stephen Wiltshire added a run-out with Matthew Dale's impressive catch restricting the visitors to 214-6 off their 40 overs.

However, Dorset started poorly in reply.

A new-look partnership of Samuel Collins (3) and Julian Pilditch (5) both fell cheaply with in-form Best quickly following having added just one run to the tally.

Dorset rallied as Wiltshire scored a quick-fire 50, but wickets steadily tumbled as Dorset ended 90 runs short, bowled out for 124.

The club are offering two free trial training sessions during the winter months to anyone with a learning and/or physical disability that is interested in joining the team.
