DORSET obliterated sorry Herefordshire by an innings and 23 runs at Bashley with a day to spare to earn a second straight MCCA Unicorns Championship Western Division victory.

Resuming on 94-1, still 119 runs adrift of the visitors, Dorset soon clicked into gear with the bat despite the early loss of skipper Luke Webb (44).

Alex Eckland (57) coasted to a half-century, his third successive score over 50 in the three-day format, before the impressive Harry Fisher (81) emulated the North Perrott man's feat in a crushing 160-run stand with Scott Currie (92) who was mightily unlucky not to register a century as Dorset eventually posted 364-9 off 90 overs.

With a deficit of 151 to surpass and force Dorset to bat again, Herefordshire quickly wilted once Brad Currie (2-27) struck twice at 25-2.

The lethal spin of Jigar Naik (4-47) consumed the visitors' middle order as Dorset polished off their opponents in 49 overs, with star all-rounder David Ball stranded on 42 not out having taken formidable figures of 7-86 in Dorset's innings.

Webb's men next face Cornwall in Redruth on Sunday, August 4.
