DANNY Ford confirmed Pirates’ reserve rocket Nico Covatti is set to get back on track this week after returning from injury.

The Argentinian charger suffered broken ribs after a nasty spill between himself and Richie Worrall during last month’s 37-35 SGB Premiership victory over Belle Vue.

But the 31-year-old has been cleared to feature in Championship outfit Somerset’s home clash with Berwick on Wednesday.

Covatti is then set to ride in Pirates’ SGB Premiership contest against Ipswich at Wimborne Road on Thursday.

Ford told the Daily Echo: “We weren’t sure of his injury for a little while but luckily he hadn’t punctured a lung, which was great news.

“We are over the moon to have him back. He is set to ride on Wednesday at Somerset, so hopefully he hits the ground running and can start to show the form he was in before he got injured.

“Nico is a great weapon to have. He has been around for a while now and was looking very fast before his injury.

“He can go out there and mix it with the best of them.”
