CHERRIES are "showing interest" in signing Luton Town defender Jack Stacey, according to a report in the Daily Mail.

The 23-year-old played a key role in the Hatters clinching promotion to the Championship last season by winning the League One title.

Stacey played 50 games for Luton in all competitions last season, scoring four goals and providing eight assists in the third tier.

The Mail claims Scottish giants Celtic are also interested in the right-back.

Stacey joined Luton from Reading in 2017, having come through the Royals academy since the age of eight.

The versatile ace spent much of his early career playing as a winger but has featured mainly in defence in recent years.

And his performances last season were rewarded with a host of awards. Stacey, who won the young player of the year gong in 2017-18, was named Luton player of the year and also picked up the 2018-19 Supporters' Trust and junior Hatters player of the season awards.

Before sealing a permanent switch to Luton, Stacey had time on loan at Barnet, Carlisle United and Exeter City in League Two.
