WEST Ham United have made Cherries frontman Callum Wilson their "number one target" to improve their frontline, according to a report in The Sun.

The report claims the London club will make an "ambitious £35million" move for the England international after it appeared they could fail in their pursuit to land Celta Vigo forward Maxi Gomez.

Wilson netted 15 goals for Eddie Howe's side last season, including a career-best haul of 14 in the Premier League.

The 27-year-old, who signed a four-year contract at Vitality Stadium last summer, earned his first Three Lions call-up in November before netting on debut against the United States at Wembley.

This month he travelled to Portugal as part of Gareth Southgate's squad for the Nations League finals, where he came on as a substitute in the third-place play-off victory over Switzerland.

The Sun report suggests West Ham have been "long-term admirers" of the Coventry City academy graduate, with boss Manuel Pellegrini looking to bolster his attacking options and have Wilson spearheading the Hammers strikeforce.
