CHERRIES are considering a move for Tom Heaton after he turned down the offer of a new Burnley contract, according to The Mirror.

The goalkeeper has just one year left on his deal at the Clarets with both Cherries and newly-promoted Premier League rivals Aston Villa said to be interested, were he to leave Lancashire this summer.

After recovering from injury, Heaton was restored as Burnley's number one for the second half of last season, displacing Joe Hart.

Hart was also linked with a move to Cherries this month while fellow goalkeeper Nick Pope has recently signed a new deal at the Clarets.

Heaton, 33, was part of the England squad that finished third at the UEFA Nations League earlier this summer.

The report claims both Cherries and Villa "could make a move in the next few weeks" for the goalkeeper.
