SKIPPER Luke Webb insisted his job leading Dorset in T20 had been made “easier” by his side showing their quality.

The minor counties outfit have won all four of their Unicorns T20 Group Four fixtures so far this season, earning triumphs over Devon and Wales in double headers.

And Webb is eager to keep up the impressive record when Dorset on Sunday host Cornwall at Wimborne’s Leaze headquarters (from 11am).

The Bournemouth batsman told the Daily Echo: “When you have quality players and they are standing up and taking the responsibility, it makes the captain’s job that much easier and that’s what we have done so far.

“The T20 has been very positive and we could not have done better results-wise. We know to qualify out of the group is tough.

“I think six wins out of eight generally gets you qualified, so we could not be in a better position to do that from where we are.

“We have played some good cricket and have a good formula which seems to be working for us. The challenge now is to repeat it in the second half of the games and see where it takes us.”

Dorset will be heading back to Wimborne for the second time in as many seasons, having staged T20 contests against Wales at the venue last summer.

Webb added: “It’s great to be playing at Wimborne. It’s in the heart of the county and hopefully gives a chance for a lot of people to come along, support the team and have a good day.

“I played there for the Dorset age-group side and when I was playing in the Dorset Premier League as well. To take the county first-team back there is a great honour and I’m very excited.”
