Cherries are battling Premier League rivals Southampton to sign Polish goalkeeper Bartlomiej Dragowski, according to a report in Sportitalia.

The 21-year-old spent the second half of the 2018-19 season on loan at Serie A side Empoli from Fiorentina and made 14 appearances as Gli Azzurri were relegated from the top flight.

Saints were believed to be close to signing the stopper for £8.8million, but the report claims Cherries are now rivalling their south coast neighbours with a deal that could reach £13.3million.

Italian outfit Roma are also believed to be interested in Dragowski after his impressive displays in Serie A.

The Pole made a record-breaking 17 saves in a single game against Atalanta in 0-0 draw in April, more than any other goalkeeper has managed before in Italy's top flight since data was first recorded by Opta 15 years ago.

Dragowski began his career at hometown Jagiellonia Bialystok and has come through the youth ranks of the Poland national team set-up, making his under-21s debut in 2015.
