CHARLIE Daniels insisted he had been “really pleased” with his rehabilitation after undergoing surgery to stabilise his knee.

The Cherries full-back has been working in the gym this summer to aid the recovery process, after his patella had come out of line during a training session back in April.

Former Leyton Orient ace Daniels has been seen pictured running on an anti-gravity treadmill, as well as going through a range of different movements.

Giving an update on his progress, the 32-year-old told afcbTV: “I’m feeling good, it was eight weeks post-op this week and I have started running on the AlterG for the first time, which is nice.

“Everything is going really well and I’m really pleased.

“The patella just came out of the groove that it sits in, so the surgeon thought it was best to do knee stabilisation surgery.

“All in all, he was really happy with the way it went and for me, personally, the way it’s progressed has been really good.

“When it first happened, I thought I had done something really serious so I got the physios to test it straight away. I had to go for a scan and from there on, it led to the operation.”

Daniels’s campaign had been cut short by the problem, having last season made 24 appearances for Cherries in all competitions.

A stalwart at the club having signed in 2011, the former Tottenham youngster has played 127 Premier League games for the Dorset outfit.

Only Steve Cook (139) and Joshua King (135) have featured on more occasions for Eddie Howe’s men in the top flight.

The knee problem had been set to keep the defender out for up to six months.

Asked for an update on his return, Daniels replied: “You would have to ask the physios but it’s going really well.

“I am fortunate that this is the first time it’s ever happened in my career, so I’m not too worried about it. I am just fully focused on trying to get back fit as quickly as I can.”
