DORSET’S Phil Loose has renewed his ambition to represent Great Britain after tasting team success with England.

Loose, who manages and coaches at Wimborne Tennis Club, was part of England’s three-man squad that claimed the Over-35s ITF Senior Four Nations Cup.

Alongside team-mates Tim Webster and Tom Wride, the 40-year-old delivered wins in one singles and three doubles rubbers as the trio triumphed against Scotland, Wales and host nation Ireland.

Reflecting on the achievements in Dublin, Loose told the Daily Echo: “To be selected to play for England was very special but to win the cup was amazing. As a group we had a really good team spirit.

“I am now hoping to represent Great Britain in the World Team Championship in Miami at the end of October.

“I know I need to do well in my next few tournaments to hopefully get selected.”

England glory for Loose followed an impressive 2018 in which he claimed four titles before losing in the final of this year’s British Open Indoor Senior Championship.
