EDDIE Howe says Nathaniel Clyne did “really well” for Cherries during his four-month loan spell.

The Liverpool full-back arrived on the south coast in early January on a temporary deal to cover the season-ending injury suffered by Simon Francis on Boxing Day.

The 28-year-old went on to make 15 appearances for the club, including the full 90 minutes in Sunday’s final day defeat at his former club Crystal Palace.

Discussing the impact Clyne has had since he moved to Cherries, boss Howe said: “I really like Nathaniel.

“I think he’s done really well for us.

“He came in at a time when we were really keen to just give the squad a boost with the injuries we had suffered.

“We obviously needed defenders at that stage of the season.

“I think the signings of him and Chris Mepham were huge for us.”

Asked whether he could make a move for Clyne in the summer, Howe added: “He’s shown versatility. He’s played different positions and he’s been very good around the changing room so we’ll wait and see on that one.”
