NEW skipper Luke Webb revealed his pride at leading Dorset as they tomorrow begin their Unicorns T20 campaign.
The talented batsman, who scored 141 in Bournemouth’s 28-run win at Basingstoke at club level on Saturday, has succeeded Chris Park in the county role for the 2019 campaign.
Dorset face a double-header at Panteg CC against Wales in their Group Four opener (11am start).
Webb told the Daily Echo: “Playing for Dorset since I was eight years old, having the honour to captain the first-team now, I am very proud and excited.
“I am always learning and talking to as many people as I can to learn about the captaincy. It’s something I have done as I’ve grown up.
“As long as I’m always learning and we are working as a group, then I’m sure we will be absolutely fine.”
Dorset have named a 13-man squad for the two fixtures, which includes the likes of Max Waller and Felix Organ.
“I absolutely can’t wait,” said Webb.
“We have put in a lot of hard work over the winter and had a pretty successful campaign last year just missing out on qualification.
“I’m excited to get going and I think everyone is. We have been talking as a group and putting some plans in place.”
