CHERRIES are ‘frontrunners’ to sign Middlesbrough youngster Marcus Tavernier, according to a report in The Sun.
The 20-year-old winger has made 26 appearances for Championship side Boro this season, scoring four goals, but he has been largely used as a substitute by Tony Pulis as his side battle for a play-off spot.
And the report claims England under-20 international Tavernier could be on the move this summer.
Manchester United were also thought to be interested before Christmas, but they have since changed manager from Jose Mourinho to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Scouts of other English clubs are said to also be tracking the wide-man, who was invited to train with Gareth Southgate’s senior England squad in September.
He spent the second half of the 2017-18 campaign on loan at MK Dons, playing eight times before returning to Middlesbrough.
