PROMOTER Danny Ford hopes two meetings in two days will see Pirates get back on track after a “poor performance” last time out.

Poole have not raced since their tough defeat at home to Swindon in the Supporters’ Cup on April 19. However, Pirates head to Somerset tomorrow for a rescheduled challenge meeting against the Rebels before welcoming Belle Vue to Wimborne Road on Thursday (both 7.30pm) in the SGB Premiership.

Ford said: “These two meetings in 24 hours could be the kickstart we need. The defeat at home to Swindon is still hurting to be honest as it’s never nice to lose on your own track.

“The track and weather conditions didn’t really do us any favours over the bank holiday weekend and it was extremely difficult for the guys to get anything going because of that.

“But I hope some thinking time since that last meeting, coupled with these two quickfire meetings this week, will help the riders make amends for what was still a poor performance against the Robins in front of a big bank holiday crowd.”

The Aces have made a solid start to their 2019 campaign, winning all three of their Supporters’ Cup clashes. But the Manchester outfit did taste a heavy defeat at Ipswich in their only Premiership meeting so far, going down 52-38.

Pirates star Richie Worrall will come up against twin brother Steve when the Aces roll into Dorset, while Australian champion Max Fricke and Danish stalwart Kenneth Bjerre spearhead their septet.

Pirates: 1 Jack Holder, 2 Richie Worrall, 3 Nicolai Klindt, 4 Josh Grajczonek, 5 Brady Kurtz, 6 Nico Covatti, 7 Nicolaj Busk Jakobsen.

Aces: 1 Max Fricke, 2 Steve Worrall, 3 Dan Bewley, 4 Ricky Wells, 5 Kenneth Bjerre, 6 Dimitri Bergé, 7 Jaimon Lidsey.
