BOSS Matty Holmes insisted he could see the passion in his Wimborne Town squad after they eased their Southern League South relegation worries.

Magpies sealed a 2-0 victory at Harrow Borough, thanks to goals from Jordan Lee and Matt Oldring.

Victory increased to five points the Cuthbury club’s advantage on the bottom three with three games remaining - following Gosport’s 3-0 reverse at home to Merthyr.

Holmes told the Daily Echo: “It was a brilliant result and it takes the pressure off for a week!

“We tried to stress to the boys not to panic and just to try to work as hard they could. Everyone to a man put a shift in and it was a brilliant result.

“When the second one went in the lads were going absolutely ballistic. The passion was there and there was no way they were going to concede after that.

“You could see it in their faces, they dug in and saw the game out. I was delighted to get a clean sheet and an away win at this stage of the season – it’s a huge boost for us.”
