ASSISTANT Taffy Richardson stressed the importance of Poole Town’s battle with Farnborough and insisted: “Both teams have to win.”

Dolphins have slipped to sixth in Southern League South – six points behind Kings Langley in the final play-off position.

Three wins on the spin has seen Farnborough sit just two points behind Poole ahead of Saturday's clash at Cherrywood Road (3pm) – a fact Richardson predicts will galvanise the hosts.

He told the Daily Echo: “Both teams have to go for it – both teams have to win. So, I can imagine them having a right go because they’ll think they have a chance to sneak into the play-offs.

“At this stage of the season, a draw is no good for any of us”.

Defeat would put a huge dent in Poole’s play-off ambitions. But Richardson is hoping the importance of the run-in will have an adverse effect on his side’s rivals.

“Kings Langley, now they’re in that position, you never know what is going to happen,” he added. “The ball is in their court but pressure is a strange thing – it can do things to a team they normally wouldn’t do.”

Dolphins are unlikely to have Luke Roberts who is still coming back from a knee injury, Jamie Whisken remains suspended.
