CHRIS Mepham admitted Cherries were “second best all over the pitch” during Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to Leicester City.

The visitors were powerless to prevent the Foxes picking up all three points at King Power Stadium, thanks to goals from Wes Morgan and Jamie Vardy.

Mepham told the Daily Echo: “We wanted to come to Leicester with confidence and get the win. It wasn’t to be and it was disappointing we didn’t really put up much of a fight.

“There wasn’t really any battling going on and it was a tough one to take.

“We were second best all over the pitch in most aspects. We didn’t really get our press right, on the ball we weren’t good enough, weren’t brave enough and didn’t take enough risks.

“Ultimately, we didn’t create loads. We created more in the first half than the second half and that’s frustrating.”

He added: “Most teams have better home form than away form but there’s no reason why it should be like that. We know we have enough quality to go to these away teams and get positive results.

“It’s not really falling for us at the minute and you sort of buy your own luck. It starts with battling and winning your duels, I didn’t really feel like we did that.”
