WILL Croker admitted the chance to gain retribution against Maidenhead had fuelled his Bournemouth side this week.

Tomorrow, Maidenhead, who are coached by 2003 World Cup winner Will Greenwood, visit Chapel Gate (2.30pm).

The Berkshire outfit are the only side to inflict defeat upon Lions this season and are chasing a possible play-off place.

Croker revealed the chance to gain revenge and increase Bournemouth's lead at the top of South West Premier had provided ample motivation ahead of the match.

He said: “This is one of those weeks which you get properly buzzed about as a rugby coach.

“Last year it was us in a similar position to Maidenhead – chasing a promotion play-off place – knowing we had to win games.

“Maidenhead come to us knowing they need to really get a minimum of two points.

“Barnstaple have the slightly easier run-in and Maidenhead know that anything less than a win is going to be seen as devastating but anything less than two points will really put them on the back foot.”

Second-placed Maidenhead are 23 points behind Croker’s side with just two matches left to play after this weekend's clash.
