Meanwhile, second-half strikes from Mike Gosney – one of which came from the penalty spot - hauled Lymington off the canvas to record a 2-2 home draw with Poppies at the Sports Ground.

Mike Turvey’s double for AFC Portchester meant Bashley succumbed to a 2-0 defeat on the road. The reverse was the New Forest outfit’s 15th in the league this season and left them a point outside the top-10.

In Wessex One, Ollie Davies struck twice in the first half to help Verwood Town seal a 3-2 victory over Newport at Potterne Park.

Callum Crotty also netted for Potters, who are ninth in the division with 43 points from 32 games.
