CHERRIES striker Dominic Solanke has been named in the England under-21s squad for friendlies this month.

Solanke could feature in matches against Poland at Ashton Gate and Germany at Vitality Stadium.

The 21-year-old was a firm favourite with boss Aidy Boothroyd in the Young Lions’ unbeaten European Championship qualification campaign.

The former Chelsea and Liverpool marksman netted four goals as England booked their place at this summer’s finals in Italy and San Marino.

Boothroyd said: “It’s an exciting time, getting the boys back together to prepare for the Euros and two really good games against teams who could be our competitors in the summer.

“Poland and Germany will give us really good tests. Any team that qualifies for the under-21 Euro finals has to be respected.

“You can see from the standard of the countries that are heading to Italy in June, they are all top teams.”

Solanke will link up with the squad on Sunday, some 24 hours after Cherries’ Premier League clash with Newcastle.
