BOSS Tom Killick insists Poole Town are now “a lot stronger” than when they last met play-off rivals Harrow Borough.

Dolphins look to cement their top-five Southern League South position when they visit Boro on Saturday (3pm).

Six-points separates fifth-placed Poole with the hosts, who also have a game in hand as the race for the play-offs hots up.

Killick’s men squandered a winning position last time the teams met - surrendering a two-goal lead in injury time to draw 3-3 at Black Gold Stadium last month.

He told the Daily Echo: “The result against Harrow in January was one of the most frustrating games we’ve had. However, it probably served as a turning point for our season.

“After that game we stopped focusing on the play-offs and more towards our own performances. Since then, results have followed.

“Looking back at that Harrow game, we had it in the palm of our hand twice – at 2-0 up and at 3-1 up. We were very weak mentally at the time but now we are a lot stronger.

“We’ll go to Harrow with a lot more confidence but also wary of what they can do.”

Poole’s frontline will be bolstered by returning duo Luke Roberts and James Constable but Killick has the juggling act of fitting an array of forwards into his team.

Cherries loanee Jake Scrimshaw has been in clinical form since earning a starting berth. Killick is confident he can cater to all his attacking threats.

“I’m not concerned about fitting in all my attackers,” he added. “I’m very happy that I’ll have both James Constable and Luke Roberts back.

“Luke could have started last weekend but I felt that the team did so well against Tiverton (the game before) that it would have been wrong to have changed it.

“Luke came off the bench and played with no ill effects. He’ll be available against Harrow.

“James was just the wrong side of being fit for the Frome game but I think he’ll be fine for Saturday.

“Young Jake Scrimshaw has been in fantastic form, so it would be unfair to move him out of the team.”

Defender Jake Smeeton is set to start a two-game ban for Dolphins after being sent off at home to Frome last time out.

But Killick revealed the suspension had not affected his plans.

The boss said: “He was going to be away anyway for the next two games.

“Luckily we had Will Spetch coming back from injury. The silver lining of Jake’s red card was that we were able to give Will some minutes in that position.”

Dolphins have no other injury concerns or suspensions and should be at full strength barring long-term absentees.
