BOSS Matty Holmes wants battle-hardened Wimborne to keep pushing away from the Southern League South bottom three.

A run of six games without defeat in the division has seen Magpies reach 10th in the table.

Wimborne, now seven points clear of the drop-zone, on Saturday host 17th-placed Walton Casuals at KoolPak Stadium (3pm).

Holmes told the Daily Echo: “It’s our highest position of the season and deservedly so from the lads with what they are doing.

“We started poorly and had been in a fight for a long time.

“But we are hardened to it now and I hope we can continue to be that way and keep getting positive results to push on.

“We know we must keep it up. Walton Casuals will be tough. They are a good footballing side and we have to be very aware of that.

“We just have to keep focused and doing what we are doing.”

The Wimborne manager watched Walton when the Surrey-based side were beaten 3-1 at Poole Town earlier this month.

The visitors have picked up just five points from their past six league games – they did however beat Hartley Wintney 4-3 away from home on Tuesday.

Magpies are once again set to be without midfielder Carl Pettefer due to a thumb injury.
