PETE Old insisted he had no regrets after turning down the manager's job at Ringwood Town in favour of East Christchurch SSC's memorable FA Sunday Cup adventure.

The former Ringwood player last summer impressed in an interview and was offered the role at Long Lane.

However, he chose to stay put following a title-winning season with the Bournemouth Hayward Sunday League outfit.

On Sunday, East Christchurch's journey in the FA Sunday Cup came to an end at the quarter-final stage with a 2-0 defeat against Birstall Stamford.

Old told the Daily Echo: "I had a decision to make in the summer. I put my name in the hat for the Ringwood Town job and I was fortunate enough to get offered the job.

"I was not ready to give up this journey because we had the Sunday FA Cup to come. "I politely turned the job down which was a hard choice. "They went on to appoint Richard Morse who turned it around.

"I also have a wife and two children, my daughter is five and my son is about to turn two, so for me it was a few years too early.

"I do have aspirations to see how high I can go. I believe with the right team there is no reason why you cannot go higher."
