CHERRIES sources have played down reports of a falling out between Asmir Begovic and Eddie Howe.

The Daily Mail claimed keeper Begovic – who lost his place to Artur Boruc last month – was “facing an uncertain future” following a “dispute” with his manager over the decision to drop him.

Meanwhile, The Mirror reported Begovic’s career at Cherries “was in question” after a “heated discussion” with Howe.

The Daily Echo understands regular meetings between Howe and individual players – whether they have been selected in matchday squads or not – are a routine occurrence.

These conversations are believed to occur on a one-to-one basis behind closed doors.

Sources close to Cherries claim that despite missing top-flight encounters against West Ham, Chelsea and Cardiff, Begovic is committed to the Dorset club and will attempt to win back his spot in the starting line-up.

Indeed, Howe has praised Begovic for his reaction to losing his place.

The boss said: “Asmir has responded very well in training. He has been excellent.

“That is all you ask for, you ask for players in every position to really push each other.

“Competition for places is really at the bedrock of all successful teams, so I am delighted with the response.”

Boruc kept clean sheets against West Ham and Chelsea prior to Saturday’s 2-0 loss at Cardiff.
