DAVID Brooks is aiming to extend his electric start to life in the Premier League after putting big guns Chelsea to the sword.

The 21-year-old chipped in with a goal and an assist as Eddie Howe’s men thrashed the Blues 4-0 at Vitality Stadium.

Brooks’s second-half strike increased to six his tally of top-flight goals for the campaign.

He had only registered four senior goals prior to his £10million summer move to Cherries from Sheffield United.

The Wales international said: “You always believe in yourself and think you can help the team but now that it’s actually happening, it’s a real step up. Hopefully, it can continue.

“With the players Chelsea have, you know it’s going to be difficult but I thought the application from the lads and the game plan worked really well.

“Results like this don’t come around very often, especially against one of the top six. We will enjoy it but we have to move on.”

Brooks was taken off after 68 minutes as an injury precaution but is hoping to be fit for Saturday’s trip to Cardiff (5.30pm).

“It was just a bit sore around my ankle. I think I was coming off anyway, so I’ll just try to rest up,” he added.
