BASHLEY romped to their first win against Wessex Premier rivals Poppies this season at the fourth attempt.

Paul Morris’s side secured the emphatic 4-1 victory after a fast start at Victoria Park.

Bash opened their account in the eighth minute when Harrison White split the Poppies defence and Dan Munday drilled home beyond goalkeeper Sam Jones.

The lead was doubled by Cameron Beard’s effort in the 15th minute before Tony Rolls fired in a long-range strike to make it three before half-time.

Hugh Dathan added a fourth when he cut in from the wing and saw his deflected shot hit the back of the net just after the hour mark.

Poppies claimed a consolation goal through Harry Cooper’s near-post effort in stoppage time.

Victory reduced to five points the gap between the two sides after Poppies tasted defeat for the first time in 2019.

Hamworthy edged out Baffins 3-2 at County Ground, with goals from Dan Cann, Ollie Balmer and Ryan Watkins.

Christchurch claimed three points at home for the second time in four days thanks to a 3-0 win over Fareham.

First-half efforts from Lucas Murrain, Max Wilcock and Ash Pope delivered the win.
