TOM Killick is concentrating on the here and now for Poole Town rather than the prospect of a charge for the play-offs, writes Jack Tanner.

Dolphins sit 11th in Southern League South, 10 points outside the top five with 19 games to play.

Poole tomorrow have an opportunity to reduce the gap on fifth-place Harrow Borough, with the London club due to visit Black Gold Stadium (7.45pm).

However, the Dolphins boss urged his players to find their form before talk of a play-off push.

Killick told the Daily Echo: “The position we are in the league table means we are just focusing on improving our position rather than pushing for the play-offs.

"We cannot think too far ahead. We are not happy with our league position and maybe a good run would give us a chance but we just want to be in a better position than we are now.

“It is a congested table when you are either looking up at the play-off picture or down at the relegation zone.

“What that means for us is we are focusing on picking up points before getting ahead ourselves and thinking about the play-offs.”

Dolphins had a weekend off after their home match against Walton Casuals was postponed.

Killick's side have played the joint fewest matches in the division but he remained undeterred by a potential fixture pile-up.

“With home Saturday postponements there is the slight positive that it gives the away team a logistically difficult task," said Killick. "I would be more concerned if it was an away match. While any postponement is not ideal, I am not too concerned about fixture congestion.

“We have a few mid-week games in the league and the Dorset Senior Cup but the only worry is players are more likely to pick up injuries.”

Poole's season has been hit by injuries to key personnel but Killick is hoping to have captain Jamie Whisken available for selection alongside other defensive reinforcements.

“We will have a few more players back since we last played," said Killick. "Whisken, Josh Leslie-Smith and Jordan Alawode-Williams should all be available. Jake Scrimshaw should be fit and there is an outside possibility we will have Adam Grange back too.”

Steve Devlin and Michael Walker are certain to miss the match due to long-term injuries, while full-back Jack Dickson is a doubt.
