BOSS Eddie Howe revealed his delight after Cherries recaptured the winning feeling against West Ham.

Second-half goals from Callum Wilson and Joshua King earned Cherries their first victory of 2019 and ended a run of five games without a win.

Howe said: “It was a reward for the players’ efforts and mindset during the difficult run we have been on.

“They have worked incredibly hard, have never let their heads drop and have trained well.

“I was so keen for them to feel that winning feeling again on the back of them really sticking together."

Success saw Cherries reach the 30-point mark in the Premier League and go within a point of the top 10.

Howe pinpointed West Ham frontman Andy Carroll’s second-half miss as a turning point.

With the score goalless, the former Liverpool striker blazed over from close range.

“Performance-wise, it wasn’t as good as some we had during the run we have been on but the key thing was we got the break when we needed it,” said Howe.

“Andy Carroll missing that chance was a key moment. In previous weeks, they have been going in.

“Today it didn’t and that enabled us to score the first goal, which we haven’t done enough in this run.

“It was a great strike from Callum. From then on, we defended very well.”

Wilson was forced off with a knee problem after 73 minutes against the Irons.

“I think it was a problem with his knee. I have no more details on it,” added Howe.
