CHERRIES boss Eddie Howe scotched speculation over a reported move for Ryan Fraser and insisted: “He has a huge future here.”

The Scotland international has been the subject of interest from Everton and Southampton, according to The Sun.

The tabloid claims Everton may try to sign Fraser this month “with a bid of around £15million, as he fits in well with boss Marco Silva’s attacking philosophy”.

Saints are reported to be “watching developments” on the 24-year-old “but cannot match the financial muscle of the Merseysiders”.

Fraser was snapped up by Howe for a bargain £400,000 from Aberdeen in January 2013.

And the boss insists the pacey wide man, who is set to line up at home against West Ham tomorrow (3pm), is “a massive part” of what he is building at Cherries.

Asked about the speculation surrounding Fraser, Howe told the Daily Echo: “He has a huge future here.

“When you consider his age and the journey we have been on with Ryan to get to this point. Why commit to that journey, all the work and sacrifice from his side in coming here from Aberdeen, to then lose that?

“Ryan is a massive part of we are doing. You can see that on the pitch this season.

“He has been committed to the team, has performed very well and we value him very highly. I am excited by what he can do in the future.

“All the players that are here in the squad as we currently stand have a huge part to play in our future.”

Only Chelsea’s Eden Hazard has registered more assists in the Premier League than Fraser’s nine this season.

The former Ipswich loanee has started all but two of the Dorset club’s 22 top-flight fixtures.

Quizzed on whether the rumours would affect the talented Scot, Howe replied: “Ryan has been great to manage.

“He has concentrated on his football, shown a real desire to improve and he wouldn’t have made the journey he has if he did not have that commitment to excellence.

“It’s very important that doesn’t change and he continues to focus on his performances in training.”

Fraser delivered an all-important free-kick for Steve Cook to head home the winner as Cherries beat West Ham 2-1 at London Stadium in August.

But with the Hammers having climbed above the Dorset club to ninth in the pile, boss Howe is expecting a tough encounter.

“They didn’t get off to the kind of start and momentum they wanted but they’ve recovered very well with some really good results of late,” he added.

“They look confident with a nice balance to their team at the moment as well.

“Every game in the Premier League is so difficult, we know this will be no different.”

Cherries have picked up three wins and two draws from seven Premier League games against the east London club.
