DAN Gosling revealed how his festive spell on the sidelines had left him a nervous wreck.

The all-action midfielder was out for more than a month with a knee problem which required surgery.

He missed no fewer than eight games, of which Cherries lost six.

Gosling returned for the draw against Watford at the start of this month and then played in the loss at Everton on Sunday.

Discussing his spell out, Gosling told the Daily Echo: “I’m a very nervous watcher, especially sitting in the stands, and I watched a couple on TV over Christmas as well.

“You are watching and hoping we are going to get a result and when it’s not going too well, it’s not nice.

“It was tough, especially over a period where there were so many games and we were already light on numbers.

“It was disappointing to miss so many games over that crucial period but, hopefully, I can stay fit now.

“It gives us an extra body and extra competition and, hopefully, that will bode well for future games.”

Gosling has made 15 appearances for Cherries this season, all but one in the Premier League.

His last goal was against former club Newcastle 11 months ago.
