MIDFIELDER Matt Worthington has left Cherries to join League Two Yeovil Town on a permanent deal.

The 21-year-old, who came through the youth ranks at the Dorset club, has agreed a deal at Huish Park until at least June 2021.

Worthington re-joins the Glovers after making 19 appearances for Darren Way’s side at the beginning of the 2017/18 campaign.

He spent the first half of this season on loan at League Two Forest Green Rovers.

Yeovil boss Way told the club website: "Matt has cut his teeth in the EFL now following his spell with us and Forest Green.

"It means we secure the services of a very promising player who knows what the division is all about, most importantly on a long-term deal that shows what this club is trying to achieve."

Worthington became Cherries’ second academy graduate to feature in the Premier League when he came off the bench at Leicester in May 2017.

He could link up with Cherries youngster Alex Dobre, who is on loan at Yeovil, when the Glovers host bottom side Notts County tomorrow (3pm).

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Jordan Holmes has joined St Mirren on loan until the end of the season.
