BOSS Alan Connell described as an “amazing feeling” experiencing proud moments with football and family.

The 35-year-old saw his Cherries under-18s side progress in the FA Youth Cup on Wednesday – days after he had become a father for the first time.

Connell’s partner Becki gave birth to their daughter Dulcie Sue just after Christmas.

And the celebrations continued on the pitch for the former striker, who saw Jake Scrimshaw rattle in a hat-trick to earn Cherries a 3-0 triumph at Oxford United.

Proud dad Connell told the club website: “It’s been a lovely few days and Dulcie and Becki are both doing well.

“It’s been difficult in a way as well because you want to enjoy that special moment, that family time but you also have a big game to prepare for.

“It’s been about trying to get the balance and, hopefully, I’ve got it right!

“It’s been an amazing feeling and quite an emotional time so I couldn’t be happier.”

Victory for Cherries meant they reached the fifth round of the competition for the second time in club history.

They are now set to host Aston Villa at Vitality Stadium by Saturday, February 9.
