EDDIE Howe admitted “there are a lot of admirers” of Sam Surridge – after Bradford City became the latest club to confirm their interest in the frontman.

Cherries recalled Surridge from his loan spell at Oldham earlier this month after the 20-year-old fired 12 goals in 20 games for the League Two outfit.

That included a penalty which helped the Latics stun Fulham in the FA Cup.

Since then, Oxford United boss Karl Robinson has declared his interest in recruiting Surridge on loan and now Bradford manager David Hopkin has also thrown his hat in the ring.

Speaking to the Telegraph & Argus, Hopkin said: “I’ve been in touch with Sam’s representatives but he’s got a lot of interest. It’s down to where he wants to play."

The Telegraph & Argus claims the Bantams will find out “in the next day or so” if they have landed the former Ferndown Upper pupil on loan.

Quizzed on what Surridge’s future held, Howe told the Daily Echo: “That’s a very difficult question to answer. We will wait and see.

“I’ve been pleased with him and the loan spell has had a positive effect, which is not always the case.

“My recent experiences have been that we have had more negative reactions from loan spells than positive.

“It depends on the individual. Sam played and scored goals. He’s feeling good about himself and that has shown in his training here.

“There are a lot of admirers out there which is only good for him and us.

“He has built his profile to a level where people are aware of him and talking about him, which is the beauty of the loan spell.”

Surridge travelled with Cherries to Everton yesterday but was not part of the matchday squad.

If he gets on the pitch for Howe’s side before the closure of the transfer window, Surridge would be ineligible to go on loan to any side other than Oldham this season.
