CHERRIES are set to offer David Brooks a new contract to “ward off” interest from Manchester United and Tottenham, according to The Sun.

The publication claims United “have been doing their homework on the 21-year-old” while Spurs are “long-term admirers”.

Despite both clubs reportedly being happy to part with £40million for the former Sheffield United star, The Sun claims Cherries want to hold on to the Warrington-born ace.

Brooks is in for “a huge pay rise” according to the national newspaper, who claim a new contract could land him £50,000 per week.

It is reported that Brooks “will commit” to the rumoured deal.

Signed from the Blades for £10million in July on a four-year deal, Brooks has impressed since making the step up to the top flight.

He has scored five times and registered two assists in 19 Premier League appearances.

The former Manchester City youngster is expected to line up when Cherries visit Everton today (2.15pm).

Meanwhile, Cherries are reported to be one of three clubs "weighing up offers" for Bristol City's Josh Brownhill.

TEAMtalk claim Leicester and Brighton are also interested in the 23-year-old, who scored in City's 1-0 FA Cup third-round victory over Huddersfield last weekend.
