CHRIS Hughton believes the signing of Nathaniel Clyne will be a “good fit” for Cherries.
The Brighton manager admitted he had been surprised to see the on-loan Liverpool full-back line up against his side at Vitality Stadium on Saturday.
Clyne played 90 minutes of Cherries' FA Cup third-round defeat having arrived from Anfield fewer than 24 hours previously.
But Hughton, whose team host Championship outfit West Brom in the next round, said the 27-year-old would suit Cherries’ style.
He said: “Clyne is a very good fit for this team and they have done well to get him.
“He is already a top player and has been out for a good while with injury.
"This is a player who was an England international.
"Probably the only thing which stopped that being the case was an injury which kept him out for a while and a couple of other very good right-backs then came through.
“I imagine he would enjoy playing in this team given the way the team play and I think it’s a very good signing for them.
“They have an outstanding manager and a way of playing and they have recruited really well over the years.”
Cherries return to action against Everton on Sunday.
