POOLE talent Jacob Peters scooped a hat-trick of golds for British Swimming at the Swim Ontario Junior International meet in Canada.

Peters powered to wins in the 50m, 100m and 200m butterfly, with Dorset senior record times in each event.

His efforts in the 50m heat and 100m final delivered the fastest ever times recorded by an 18-year-old British athlete in the respective events.

Olympians Adam Barrett, Anthony James, Mark Foster and Ben Proud are the only Britons to complete a short course 50m butterfly faster than Peters's mark.

After his individual success, Peters joined team-mates Scott Gibson, Archie Goodburn and Greg Butler in the 4x100m medley relay to deliver a strong time of 3.38.

“It was nice to go out there and win races and enjoy that hunger for success," said Peters.

"I have learned a lot this year and my next stage is to keep my head down and work with my coach to train even harder to convert these results into long course performances."

The event ended a busy year for the Poole Swimming Club star.

Highlights included relay heat medals and individual finals at the Commonwealth Games and European Senior Championship.

Peters's attention now turns to April's British Championship in Glasgow.
