BOSS Tom Killick described as "ridiculous" Poole Town's position in Southern League South.

The Boxing Day defeat to rivals Wimborne Town saw Dolphins drop to 12th in the table, nine points adrift of the play-off spots and only six clear of the relegation zone.

Poole will on Saturday hope to bounce back against third-place Salisbury at Black Gold Stadium (3pm).

Killick told the Daily Echo: “It’s a game of big significance to us all.

"We are nearer the bottom of the table than the top. It’s ridiculous – I feel with this group of players it’s a very bad situation for us to be in."

Killick admitted his team needed to improve their performance to secure a positive result from the clash with Salisbury.

“Boxing Day was a day where we just needed to play near our level and we would win the game," said Killick.

“Salisbury is different in that they are a very powerful side. That’s nothing against Wimborne but Salisbury are on a bit of a different level.

“We have to be right at the top of our game to get anything from the match."

Marvin Brooks is a doubt to face his former club after being substituted against Wimborne due to a minor injury.
