JUBILANT boss Matty Holmes heaped praise on birthday boy Toby Holmes after his double paved the way for a famous Wimborne victory at Poole Town.

The clinical marksman celebrated turning 26 in style with a brace as Magpies recorded a 5-2 victory at Black Gold Stadium.

Manager Holmes told the Daily Echo: “I was delighted for Toby on his birthday. He was up against two strong centre-backs.

“At times he did a lot of unselfish running and I was pleased he got his goals.”

Wimborne, who had trailed 2-1 at the break, netted four times in the final 20 minutes to record their first win on the road in Southern League South.

James Stokoe, Luke Burbidge and Curtis Young were also on target for the visitors.

The Cuthbury boss added: “I thought Poole thoroughly deserved to go in 2-1 up. In a way I thought possibly 2-1 was kind on us.

“Then the equaliser came and we just kicked on. We started to believe and I was absolutely delighted for the boys.

“To get the three points was unbelievable.

“We need points against any team – it doesn’t make it more special. I have more respect for Poole than that. Getting the three points was all that mattered.”
