HAMWORTHY United were singing in the rain after hammering Wessex Premier rivals Cowes Sports.

With every other fixture in the division postponed due to waterlogged pitches, Hammers made the most of their 3G County Ground surface to record a 5-0 triumph.

Nathan Walker opened the scoring after heading home a corner, before former Wimborne Town man Sam Bayston doubled the advantage.

Ollie Davis and Jamie Filkins also converted before the interval and Luke Stone bagged number five some 16 minutes from time.

Victory meant Callum Brooks’s side climbed to eighth in the table.

Hammers tomorrow visit AFC Stoneham in the second round of the Sydenhams League Cup (7.45pm). The winners will make the trip to Downton in round three.

Meanwhile, ex-Poole Town goalkeeper Nick Hutchings has ended his brief stay with Hammers. The stopper has joined Southern League South Dorchester Town.
