CALLUM Wilson admitted he had known his time was almost up before scoring on his senior England debut at Wembley.

The Cherries ace marked his Three Lions bow with a goal 13 minutes from time in a 3-0 friendly win against the United States.

With Marcus Rashford waiting to come on, Wilson revealed he had been aware he had limited time left to find the net.

He told Sky Sports: “I was thinking, 'keep going'. I knew time wasn’t on my side. The clock was ticking down.

“I saw him (Rashford) standing there because there was a chance before when Trent (Alexander-Arnold) played it across and I got my foot to it.

"I probably should have scored. Then you look over and see him standing there and you are thinking you have probably got a couple of minutes.

“(Fabian) Delph put a great ball in and I managed to get on the end of it.”

Wayne Rooney, given a special send off for his services to the England cause, was a second-half substitute in the friendly.

The former Manchester United frontman played the ball wide to Delph, who curled in a searching cross for Wilson to volley into the net.

Two minutes after his goal, the Cherries striker was replaced by Rashford.

Wilson added: "He (Rooney) is a legend for England and has won a lot in his career so to receive a shirt off him was a great honour and to share the pitch with him was the same.

"It was fantastic for him to give me my shirt, I appreciated that.

"His chapter is ending now and mine is just starting."
